Questions?

Maternity

When should I book my session?

Most expectant Mom’s contact me in their 2nd trimester. I recommend scheduling your session when you are between 28-36 weeks. This allows time for Mom to develop a beautiful baby bump and not get too close to her due date.

I would like to have my husband and/or Children in the photos, is that something we can do?

Of course! I encourage you to bring along your significant and your children. Having a baby strengthen’s a families’ bond and is a very special time in your life. Having these photos of your growing family is something beautiful that you can look back on for generations.

What should I wear?

This is probably my most asked question when booking maternity sessions. During pregnancy, your body is changing at a rapid rate to accommodate your growing little one. It is easy to feel like we weigh 1,000 pounds overnight, but I always recommend to all of my clients that you feel 100% comfortable in your clothing choices, or you will not be happy with your photos. If you have a gown in mind or would like information on renting gown please contact me and we can discuss this! No matter what you choose to wear, being pregnant is a very empowering and beautiful thing! You should feel proud to flaunt that baby belly! 🙂

Newborns

When should I book my newborn session?

The sooner the better! Most moms contact me during their second trimester of pregnancy. I tentatively book my clients according to your due date, so that I have an idea of when to expect your family in the studio. Once you contact me when you are home from the hospital, we will book the date of your session.

When is the best time to do the newborn session?

Newborn sessions are done within the first 2 weeks of life.  The ideal time is between 3-10 days new. Newborn sessions can occur after the first two weeks, BUT poses may be limited. Of course, I will always accommodate babies who need to stay in the hospital a bit longer, and most premature babies are ok after their original due date. I ask partner’s to call me as soon as you are home from the hospital so that I can schedule your session.

How long will the newborn session last?

Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours, depending on baby’s level of cooperation. I never put a time limit on my newborn sessions. I always let the little ones run the show.

Where does the newborn session take place?

Newborn sessions are done at my home studio located in Phoenix, AZ.  They are typically scheduled on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning at 10AM but if another day/time is needed, I am happy to accommodate families.

Who will be present at the newborn session?

If you are bringing older siblings for sibling and/or family portraits, it is helpful to have someone leave with them after their photo has been taken. Newborn sessions can be long and boring, and I know kiddos wouldn’t have much fun staying in the studio the whole time.  I also live a block away from Roadrunner Park, and you are welcome to explore there with them if you wish (weather permitting).  I like to get sibling and parent shots done first. That way-if one parent wants to leave after the sibling(s) have had their photo taken, they can do so and not miss out.

Do I  need to bring my own props?

No. I have a variety of hats, headbands, wraps, blankets, baskets, etc. etc. in my studio for you to choose from. Unless there is something very specific you want, you just need to bring yourselves!

What should I wear?

I tell all parents to wear something they are comfortable in. I also ask that you wear solid neutral color clothing with no logos or patterns.  We want the focus to be all on this new little bundle! I will however say, the studio temperature is kept very warm to keep baby comfortable and warm during our session.  I recommend wearing lightweight clothing so that you don’t get too warm.

What should I do to Prepare?

You are a new parent. You have experienced a roller coaster of emotions since bringing this new life home with you. Which is why I have prepared a “Sleepy Baby Guide-The 3 B’s” for all of my newborn clients. This will be sent to you after baby has arrived and we have decided on a date for our session. I start all my sessions at 10 am, but that doesn’t mean you need to be 5 minutes early. I have four children, I know what it’s like to have a new baby….wether this is your first child or your fifth child.

What happens after the session?

I will share a “sneak peek” from your session on Facebook and Instagram within 48 hours. Two weeks after your session, your images will be available to you in an online gallery called, PASS. You can download your images directly from the gallery, and you can even download the PASS app on your phone, to share your photos on social media! We can also place any custom photo product orders at this time for you including announcement cards, canvases and more!

We plan to have our son circumcised, when should we schedule our session?

I recommend doing the session before baby has been circumcised. If it is not possible to wait, I prefer to wait 7 days after surgery.
